Firenze Fiera SpA is a new joint-stock company running the three main exhibition and congress facilities in Florence:
- the Fortezza da Basso is a Medicean fortress, built in 1536 by Giuliano di Sangallo,
- the Palazzo Congressi is a villa built by the Strozzi family, perfectly restored and housing ancient furniture and pieces, while
- Palazzo Affari is a modern hall, built by architect Spadolini in 1974.
The three facilities stand out as particularly original and very high-profile exhibition and meeting places.
The company, which started working in 1999, recorded a turnover of 34.5 billion ITL and a performance revenue of two billion ITL, two thirds of which from the running of 26 fairs, of which "directly" run by the company in the fields of leisure and arts and crafts (Mostra Internazionale dell'Artigianato and Marta) and in the fiold of new technology (Firenze World Vision).
The three facilities successfully promote and boost Florence's meetings and exhibitions and are extremely competitive and high-level in a particularly complicated sector, where competition is becoming tougher and tougher.
