* stimulate administrators to adopt policies for developing truly liveable urban environment in large cities and build an ecologically sustainable future for citizens, economically dynamic and socially equitable, taking advantage of the support of entrepreneurs who engage theirselves in the challenge of building tomorrow’s cities;
* encourage the development of services and industry specialized in products, services and solutions for planning and carrying out these changes, in a framework where local administrations can become powerful agents of change and activate vast resources, becoming the driving force for the development of new industrial sectors or the renovation of existing ones;
* offer new applicative opportunities to the world of research, triggering a positive cycle with more resources dedicated to the sector and better results produced, thus increasing the incentive for continuous and ever greater technology transfer towards industrial sectors related to sustainable development;
* encourage the increase in general awareness of urban sustainability, offering the overall public an opportunity to consider this topic in a global perspective, with a “hands on experience” of possible solutions for environmental problems and city life today and in the future.
