Hannover, capital city of Lower Saxony, is situated on the banks of River Leine. The city, in addition to being one of the most important industrial and commercial centers of Germany, is also one of the largest centers for logistics. Around the city, many Freight Hubs have been established, such as Hannover-Lehrte or Seelze marshalling yard, used for the concentration and distribution of goods.
Both logistic centers are very close to Hannover Fair, Hannover Messe, in the south of the city. The trade fair of Lower Saxony’s Capital, is one of the major exhibition and convention centers in Europe for events related to Technology, Industrial Automation and Energy Innovation. Among the major exhibitions taking place at the Hannover Messe, worth a mention CeBIT, Trade Fair for Information Technology, and Nutzfahrzeuge, International Exhibition of Commercial Vehicles.
How to reach Hannover and Hannover Messe
Hanover is a major crossing point of railway lines and highways. Located in the center of the north of Germany, it is well connected to Berlin, Hamburg, Bremen, Dortmund, Fassel and Erfurt. Hannover is crossed by the motorways A2 (to Berlin) and A7 (towards Erfurt). The central station, Hannover Hauptbahnhof, is on the lines to Berlin, Amsterdam, Cologne, Hamburg, Munich, Frankfurt and Bremen. The city is served by 5 S-Bahn lines, plus several tram and bus lines. Hannover-Langenhagen Airport is about 10 km north of the city, to which it is connected by a S-Bahn line. The Hannover Messe can be reached by several subway lines: lines 8 and 18 from Central Station, lines 6 and 16 from the city centre, as well as from Kröpcke or Aegidientorplatz. The Fair can be also reached via an exit on the A37 motorway.

Hotels in Hannover’s Old Town are often housed in new facilities, thus providing guests with all modern comforts. Much appreciated by those visiting the city, are also the hotels near Grosser Garten, the largest city park (300 hectares) where, from spring to autumn, many artistic and musical events are held. Around Hannover Fair are found numerous hotels suitable for a business clientele.
Hot spots in Hannover for the after-show
The Old Town of Hannover is easily explorable on foot. Shopping and nightlife in Hannover focus all around Raschplatz, Oststadt square, the Old City. The historical centre of Hannover is full of shops, boutiques, bars and restaurants, but also small craft shops. The main shopping streets of Hannover are the Lister Meile – which also hosts several hotels, Georgstrasse - which bisects the centre, and the streets around Ägidientorplatz. Other areas filled with shops and boutiques are the pedestrian areas Kröpcke and Steintor. The most famous nightlife spots in Hannover are Osho Disco and Palo Palo, Zaza – in Hamburger Allee, open from brunch to late night. Very popular in the city are also several venues frequented by the gay community, like Men's Factory – located in Engelbosteler Damm 7, and Schwule Sau in Schaufelder Straße, to the north of the centre. In May and June, many interesting concerts and theatrical performances are staged at the Herrenhausen gardens.
