Modena Exhibition Center well represents the social and economic fabric of the city, especially through more than twenty annual appointments. ModenaFiere is part of BolognaFiere, a financial group managing also the Ferrara Exhibition and Congress Center, and obviously, that one of Bologna.
Modena, a city of 185 000 inhabitants in Emilia-Romagna region, is a major production area, one of the largest in Europe. Many food companies are based here, as Grandi Salumifici Italiani, Cremonini and Fini, but also engineering and automotive industries (Ferrari in Maranello, Maserati and Pagani), ceramic, textile and biomedical industries.
How to get to Modena
The city of Modena is a cross between the A14 motorway, the A1 motorway Milan-Naples, the A13 to the Brenner Pass. The train station of Modena, in Piazza Dante, a few minutes walk from the historical centre, is on the railway line Milan-Bologna and is the terminus of the lines to Mantua, Verona and Sassuolo. The station of Modena is connected with the Trade Fair via the bus line n.9. The nearest airport is the Bologna Guglielmo Marconi one, 20 minutes away by shuttle from the fairgrounds. The Fair can be reached by car from the exit Modena Nord, on the motorway A1.
Where to stay in Modena
Sleeping, but especially eating in Modena, is a great pleasure. Modena boasts a wide offer of accommodation facilities at different levels. In the ModenaFiere area there are some hotel chains, while only a few minutes away by bus, you get the opportunity to sleep in 3 and 4 star hotels in downtown Modena, near the main monuments and, especially, close to many interesting restaurants and clubs. Hotels near Piazza Grande, Modena's main square, allow you to reach, in a few minutes, the main places of religious and civil interest, such as the Duomo or the Ducal Palace.
Shopping venues in Modena
The main shopping street in Modena is Via Emilia, which is only 20 minutes walk from Central Station. The historical centre hosts great shops, boutiques and food shops, especially in the area between Piazza Matteotti, Piazza Mazzini and the endless Via Taglio. Also, very popular are the large shopping malls available around the city, as the GrandEmilia, close to the Exhibition Center, at the Modena North exit as well.
Modena Nightlife
Modena is a young, tourist city. The University of Modena and Reggio Emilia has in Modena the faculties of Economics, Law, Literature-Philosophy, Medicine and Surgery, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Mathematics and the Engineering center named after Enzo Ferrari. The thousands of students and tourists who monthly flock to Modena, in the evening pour over the area between Corso Adriano and via Gallucci, where there most of the clubs and pubs are. Moreover, via Taglio and via Pomposa are very popular due to the presence of restaurants and venues with live music. In spring and summer, it is nice to walk around the Este botanical garden in the area of Corso Cavour.
